Garmin nuvi GPS is far from your average PND

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: May 13, 2010 7:04 pm

I have used PND devices before and all of the ones I have had my hands on are simply not suited for anything outside helping me not get lost on a trip. I don't take the things out of the car or use any of the media player features many of them have today.

Garmin has dropped a new nuvi PND out of the blue that has some features that are clearly aimed at trying to get users to take the device with them outside the car. The Nuvi 295W has a 3.5-inch touch screen, 3MP camera, and a new Garmin UI.

It looks a lot like the Garminfone reckons Engadget, minus the three home buttons. It can connect to WiFi networks for local search and to upload the photos snapped with its camera. You can get the device for $280 on May 16, assuming you forget your smartphone can probably do the same things.
