Scythe releases compact Kama Bay AMD 2000 amplifiers

By: (more) | Audio, Sound & Speakers News | Posted: May 21, 2010 2:18 pm

Scythe has announced its new Kama Bay AMP 2000 audio amplifier for PCs today, a Class D amplifier that can be either mounted into a vacant 5.25" bay in a system or positioned solely on a desk without looking like an eyesore.

It's actually quite an attractive little unit which is available in both black and silver. One of its highlights is that it uses Yamaha's digital IC YDA138 on the PCB as an improvement in sound quality versus other Kama series amps Scythe has in its line-up.

It is a 2-channel amp with a maximum output rating of 2 x 10 Watt (8 Ù), maximum efficiency of 88% (8 Ù / 10 W) and Signal/Noise ratio of 103 dB, or 95dB when using headphones. The unit is equipped with 3 RCA inputs on the rear and a single 3.5mm stereo input on the front, as well as a USB connection.

This makes it possible to input MP3 players, computers, game consoles and other audio/video equipment to this amplifier. The knobs at the front allow the switching between sources and give adjustment of bass and treble levels. As a nice finishing touch to the front fascia, there are a couple analog meters mounted that are illuminated by a blue backlight when it is powered on.

The Kama Bay AMP 2000 Class D amplifier from Scythe can be had for an MSRP of $59.95 U.S. - For further details, have a read of the full press release here.
