Intel has just introduced a new family of ultra-low voltage Core series processors for ultra-thin (0.8 to 1-inch thick) laptops. These new Core series processors are based on their 32nm package, featuring Hyper Threading, integrated graphics and Turbo Boost on select models.

Intel claims these processors be capable of delivering up to 32% better performance over their predecessors whilst chewing through less power (around 15% more efficient) for longer battery life.

The new line-up starts with the Celeron U3400 running at 1.06GHz with two cores / two threads and 2MB of cache, said to cost $134. A notch up from there is a Pentium branded model in the U5400 running at 1.2GHz with two cores / two threads and carrying 3MB of cache.

The remaining higher-end parts are all Core series models with a single Core i3 model, two Core i5 ones and three Core i7 ones.

Expect ultra-thin notebooks from the likes of ASUS, Acer, Lenovo, MSI and others to start shipping with these new processors as of next month.
