Redbox to offer Blu-ray rentals expected at $1.50 per night

By: (more) | HT & Movies News | Posted: Jun 4, 2010 7:08 pm

I haven't stepped foot in a movie rental store in years. My local Walmart added Redbox kiosks in the store, they popped up in many local grocery stores, and I have never looked back. Sure, I end up forgetting to return the films and end up spending the same amount of money on $1 per night rentals as I would have at Blockbuster for a 5-night rental, but I don't care.

The one thing I don't like about Redbox is that they don't offer Blu-ray. What's the point of having a Blu-ray player if there is no content I can rent for the thing? Blu-ray is coming to Redbox though and at $1.50 per night, assuming rumors are true, they will be a bargain.

Redbox will also become a has been in my book once DirecTV gets all the films on PPV the day they are released. That is the future of movie rentals in my book.
