Android developers fix "missing app" problem

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Jun 8, 2010 9:58 pm

Since about Thursday, many Android phone owners and developers had been noticing many apps randomly disappearing from the Android Market. Many reports had been sent to Google with no response from them on the issue. It took until today with a post on the Google Android Developers Blog to announce the issue had been addressed and as of now, fixed.

"While we were internally troubleshooting and qualifying the fix and communicating with our hardware partners, developers were trying hard to get our help through various technical support sites. Regrettably, we fell short of our own standard for customer support by not communicating the issue to our developers and how we were working to resolve it," said Tim Bray, developer advocate for Google's Android project.

With Google using mostly a forum/email support system for problems instead of live customer service, it can be a bit frustrating to get real time help with some issues. With the arrival of competing services like Apple's newest iPhone, PR hits like this are the last thing Android products need. Hopefully these problems are few and far between for the rapidly growing Android market.
