Android powered Sony tablet possibly in the works

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Jun 10, 2010 2:54 am

Sony and Google have been getting awfully cozy with each other lately. At the I/O conference the two giants reported they would be coming together to create Google TV powered TV sets. Now the two are reported to be in cahoots on an Android powered tablet to take on the almighty iPad. CFO at Sony Nobuyuki Oneda stated in an interview that the company "has to develop a device similar to Apple's iPad tablet computer, because it is a different product category than the company's existing electronic-book reader."

Details are few and far between at this point, but it seems that every few days we are hearing about yet another "iPad killer." If Sony can bring a functional tablet at an attractive price point, then bring on the competition. Until then, we'll keep sorting through the supposed iPad killers until we find one that's ready to put on the gloves and fight.
