Skiff e-reader platform purchased by News Corp.

In an unlikely move considering that Rupert Murdoch was recently quoted saying News Corp was not likely to launch an ereader service, it was announced that his company News Corp has purchased the Skiff eReader platform from Hearst. It is also reported that Murdoch has set up Journalism Online LLC, which has established the Press+TM e-commerce platform.
To things hope to be accomplished by Press+TM: establishing payment and pricing structures and set up a "metered" mode for free content distribution.
The Skiff e-reader, a flexible 11.5" e-reader, uses a black and white display and is geared mostly towards print media. The 1600x1200 resolution gives a lot of room for text and pictures and uses a similar layout to the traditional newspaper.
