Microsoft's Kinect motion controller for the Xbox 360 took E3 by storm, and now it's available for preorder through most major outlets for $149.99. Microsoft has not released an official pricing statement yet to retailers or the public according to a spokesman. Best Buy, Gamestop, and Amazon.com online stores have it posted and ready to buy, with Wal-Mart actually posting it for $148.54.
This is within the $100 - $150 range that analyst Colin Sebastian of Lazard Capital Market expected the Kinect to fall into, although some though it may go as high as $200. "We believe that Kinect has the potential to drive accelerating growth for Xbox and increase attach rates, which are already fairly robust," he stated; also predicting over 3 million unit sales for the Kinect this year.
