HP has been in the netbook market for a while now and has machines aimed at different user groups. The company has announced a new netbook that is made to be a bit more rugged than the average machine and aimed it at schools.

The new machine is called the HP Mini 100e Education Edition. The new machine has a 10.1-inch LED backlit LCD with WSVGA resolution. It uses an Intel Atom N455 CPU and the NV10 Express chipset. The machine has 1GB of RAM and a VGA webcam.

WiFi is optional and the machine has a light to show when it is connected to a network. Power comes from 3-cell or 6-cell batteries. The keyboard is 92% of full size and spill-resistant. The netbook will offer Windows 7 Starter, XP Home, or SuSE Linux and sell for about $300.
