App Inventor for Android released by Google

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Jul 12, 2010 7:10 pm

Think it takes a programming genius to draw up new apps? Google is making the process a whole lot simpler with their new App Inventor for Android. According to the Google blog, this tool "makes it easy for anyone-programmers and non-programmers, professionals and students-to create mobile applications for Android-powered devices."

The App Inventor has been tested in classrooms around the U.S. with a lot of success. David Wolber, professor of computer science at the University of San Francisco and part of the initial pilot program, says "students traditionally intimidated by technology are motivated and excited to program with App Inventor." With a simple to use interface and the ability to connect to your phone for on the fly testing, this look like it could be a lot of fun for pros and amateurs alike.
