Gartner releases top PC shipper numbers for Q2 2010

Gartner has released its latest list rankings for global PC shippers. Acer is starting to make good on some of its threats to beat HP and Dell in the market by taking the second place spot on the global PC shippers list.

Overall, the shipments of computers globally were 82.9 million units, a growth of 20.7% compared to Q2 2009. Netbooks grew again in the low 20% range, a marked drop in growth compared to the last two quarters when the rate was over 70%.

 

Acer claimed the second place spot for global PC shipments with 13% of the global market and a growth rate of 31.6% compared to Q2 2009. The top shipper was HP with 17.4% of the market and third place is Dell with 12.4% of the market. Lenovo held 10%, Asus has 5.2%, and Toshiba has 5.1% of the global market.
