Brand new look for Google Image Search

By: (more) | Internet & Websites News | Posted: Jul 21, 2010 4:53 am

If you did a Google image search today, you may have been a bit surprised at what came up on your browser. This is because Google rolled out a major overhaul of their Image Search function today. The official announcement was given at a press conference in San Francisco by Marissa Mayer, Google's vice president of search products and user experience.

There are a ton of new features, including an all new interface starting with 25 pages worth of image thumbnails on one page. Image information is now shown by hovering over the image itself and when you click on an image, you are greeted with the full size image over the page that it is linked to. This is great for those, like me, who have found themselves scrolling over and over down a huge blog page to find an image.

This update will only be available Chrome, Safari, Firefox 3.0 and up, IE7 and IE8 for now.
