Acer's multi-boot D260 hits Australian retailer shelves this week

By: (more) | Laptops News | Posted: Jul 21, 2010 9:44 am

Acer's new Aspire One D260 goes on sale in AU this week for $449; a 10.1-inch netbook that ships in a dual boot configuration with both Windows 7 (Starter Edition) and Android 2.1. A menu pops up at startup that gives the user the ability to choose which one to boot into.

Acer says the netbook is capable of booting into Android in 15 seconds, and gives the unit up to 8 hours of battery life from the six cell battery when in this OS.

As for specs, nothing you haven't seen in competing units here. There's an N450 Atom processor (1.66GHz), 1GB RAM as standard (supporting up to 2GB), memory card slot, 160GB HDD ($449) or 250GB HDD ($499).

Acer also provides the option of built-in 3G that suits Aus networks, but pricing for this upgrade has not yet been advised. There are multiple color options for the D260 including the usual black, a smoky charcoal, purple and pink.
