Intel hits milestone in light beam replacement for electronic signals
Intel has announced that it has hit a milestone in getting light beams to replace electronic signals in future computers. The use of light beams will make the computers of tomorrow much faster than the computers we have today.

Intel Labs created the world's first silicon chip-based optical data connection using Hybrid Silicon Laser tech. The chip is capable of moving data at 50Gbps.
The new breakthrough is leading to researchers rethinking how the tech might let computer makers rethink designs of computing devices ranging from netbooks to supercomputers. Dr. Evil would be proud, notebooks with frickin' laser beams.
