CDMA iPhone slated for release in January

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Aug 10, 2010 1:48 am

When Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg was announced as the first keynote speaker for CES, it got rumors firing again that they were looking to announce that they would be bringing the iPhone 4 to their company, ending AT&T's exclusive agreement with Apple. Those rumors got a little more fire today as a source told TechCrunch that "Apple has submitted orders for millions of units of Qualcomm CDMA chipsets for a Verizon iPhone run due in December."

This would most likely point to January for the release of the iPhone 4 on Verizon, and guess what comes at the beginning of January? That's right, CES. This would be a major coup for Verizon as the iPhone rumors for them have flowned so much that people are almost numb to them at this point. With Qualcomm, the leading supplier of CDMA chipsets, on board to provide the parts for the new iPhone, this may just be the real thing.
