Kuwait added to the list of countries trying to control BlackBerry data

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Aug 10, 2010 5:14 am

BlackBerry is taking quite a beating in a few countries in the Middle East area, with the UAE, India, and Saudi Arabia threatening to ban BlackBerry messaging altogether unless they find a way to allow local servers to filter internet traffic. Kuwait has jumped into the fight as well, requesting RIM to deal with "moral and security concerns" by blocking pornographic sites.

While Saudi carriers are still testing their servers for the three major carriers to beat the 48 hour deadline imposed yesterday, more counties like Indonesia may jump on this wagon as well to track customer data usage. RIM has stayed fairly hush-hush throughout the whole ordeal, calling discussions "confidential."
