Facebook teaming with Localeze for geolocation "check in" feature
Facebook has been rumored to be preparing a "check-in" geolocation feature for a while, and it may now be getting closer to a reality. A third-party app is said to be the way it will be implemented in a joint effort with Localeze, the company that handles Twitter's "Places" directory and allows users to attach a tweet location from devices that allow the function.

Facebook acquired a similar service called "Hot Potato" which focuses on events rather than locations for about $10 million dollars, and the talent there may also be involved in this project as well. The biggest competitor here would be Foursquare, whose geolocation app has become popular with Facebook users.
