Is Sony Ericsson working on an Android powered smartphone?

If you thought that the only thing missing from the Android platform was gaming, well it seems that even that may be a complaint that you will not have in the future. According to Engadget, Sony Ericcson is hard at work on a gaming platform based on Android 3.0.

Reports are that the phone will be a slider except in place of the QUERTY keyboard there will be game controls. At least a 1 GHz processor will be on board and possibly a 5mp or better camera. Sources describe it as a "cross between the Samsung Captivate and the PSP Go." Even 3D gaming may be possible on this bad boy.

The release date could be as early as October, but the specifics are unconfirmed to this point. This could be THE phone for gamers this holiday season if all goes well.
