Computer Hardware Websites Today

By: (more) | Internet & Websites News | Posted: Apr 22, 2002 4:30 am

I've touched on this several times before now, it concerns me no end and it should concern all of you as readers of Hardware Websites. Mikhail from Mikhailtech wrote up a short editorial entitled "Computer Hardware Websites Today" discussing the current state of affairs between websites, vendors and readers.

You may not be aware of it, but for months on end now, many people have been creating their own websites just to get some free hardware and maybe the odd advertiser here and there. I know for a fact some of these people are kids who would be lucky to spend a half an hour on their websites... NOT 12 hours plus, 5 or more days a week, like I often put into TweakTown, as it is my full time job. It annoys me to think people will start up their own half cast hardware websites with the purpose of getting free hardware - It tarnishes the reputation of quality hardware websites like ours and makes companies more hesitant when handing out hardware to any website in an already flooded "industry", and that could well mean a new website which is starting up with a real purpose.

If you're pondering the thought of making your own hardware website, do it with purpose and meaning - Companies and manufactures alike aren't stupid, you wont get their support, and you defiantly won't get support from us at TweakTown.
