160GB and 320GB Playstation 3 systems coming soon

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Aug 18, 2010 1:57 am

Sony has announced today that the Playstation 3 units sold in North America will be getting a hard drive upgrade. The new options will be units with 160 or 320 gigabyte drives. According to Sony, customer demand for more space for music, movies, and game content is the main reason for the upgrade.

Scott Steinberg, VP of Product Marketing at Sony, stated that "as PlayStation Network continues to evolve with exciting new services, the hunger for digital content grows." The 160GB PS3 will replace the 120GB version and take on the same $299 USD price tag, while the 320GB version will be packaged with the Playstation Move for $399 USD.
