AV receivers for 2010 bring some new features

By: (more) | Audio, Sound & Speakers News | Posted: Aug 18, 2010 1:16 pm

In the market for a new AV receiver to manage all your home theatre gear? cnet Australia has posted up a bit of a guide on what to look out for in some of the new models rolling out.

AV receivers tend to only see minor adjustments/additions across consecutive updated models, certainly at a slower rate to the likes of flat panels and Blu-ray players, but there are a number of new features that are becoming available on some of the new AV receivers coming out this year which you may or may not need.

Cnet's guide talks about 3D compatibility, Audio Return Channel, Standby pass-through, Dolby Pro Logic IIz and more to give you an idea on whether or not you should be looking for a receiver with one or more of these new features.

Also remember, if you're still requiring S-Video inputs and / or multichannel analog inputs, be weary of the fact that several new AV receivers are doing away with these connections.
