Silicon Power unveils new 32GB SDHC Class 10 memory card

By: (more) | Storage News | Posted: Aug 25, 2010 3:04 pm

The most common memory card format in cameras and other devices today is the SD card. This is a good thing for consumers because that means you can use the same memory card in multiple devices ranging from your netbook to your digital camera and camcorder. The SD card has gained more storage capacity as time has gone by while keeping the same small form factor.

Silicon Power has unveiled a new SDHC memory card that has 32GB of storage space and offers Class 10 performance. A Class 10 certification guarantees that the memory card has at least a 10MB/s read and write speed. That write speed is very important if you are shooting bursts with a high-resolution digital camera. A slow write speed will limit how many shots you can take per burst.

The maker claims that the card is fully compliant with SD3.0 specifications and will work with and SDHC compliant digital device. The card promises to store up to 12 hours of 6Mbps video or 10,000 different photos. The same memory card can also be had in 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB capacities. Pricing for the card is unknown.
