Intel has definitely been throwing the money around lately. Fresh off their recent acquisition of McAfee, A Bloomberg report is stating that Intel is in talks with and very close to acquiring the wireless unit of Infineon in a $2 billion dollar deal. This may cause a little stir since Infineon is currently the company that provides Apple's baseband chips for devices like the iPhone and iPad.

This would be yet another push for Intel into the mobile market, who have recently strengthened their alliance with Nokia. Intel CTO Justin Rattner stated back in June in an interview with Gizmodo that Intel "definitely has phones and tablets in our sight." It makes sense in a world where more and more people are getting more reliant on their phones than their computers for connecting to the world and the web.
