Philips DUAL brings function, style, and even a keyboard to the remote control

By: (more) | Peripherals News | Posted: Sep 8, 2010 2:25 am

With so many TVs becoming internet capable, regular remotes are becoming less and less useful in this digital age. Using the arrow keys to poke around a keyboard on the screen just isn't going to cut it. Philips Home Control is looking to make you throw your old remote in a drawer for good with their new DUAL remote.

Philips Home Control briefly showed the device at IBC 2010 in Amsterdam, but not too many details were given. Obviously it gives you all of the regular remote functions like volume, channel changing, and whatnot but hidden underneath is a full QUERTY keyboard and an optical sensor and touchpad offer more input methods. The sleek, metallic design just tops it all off making it an input device anyone would love to have on their coffee table.
