Getac updates rugged B300 notebook

By: (more) | Laptops News | Posted: Sep 22, 2010 7:04 pm

Your average notebook or netbook wouldn't last long out in the field with workers in remote locations or with the military. A single drop or hard bump could be the end of many computers. Workers in the field and military types need a rugged machine and Getac has a lot of rugged offerings in its lineup.

The company has announced that it has updated its rugged B300 machine with some very nice new features. One of the key updates for the B300 is a new, faster processor. The processor is an Intel Core i7 running at 2GHz and at up to 2.8Ghz with Turbo Boost enabled. The machine also gets new display options. The standard display is a 700nit unit and the optional display is aimed at the field worker in the outdoors a lot.

The optional screen has 1400nits of brightness and QuadraClear technology for viewing in reflective environments and direct sunlight. The notebook is still certified to MIL-STD-810G for ruggedness and shock protection and is certified to IP65 for protection from water and dust. Gobi mobile broadband is optional as well. A basic machine starts at $3799 with a 3G version using the optional display sells for $4899.
