The news round-up for today

By: (more) | Posted: May 21, 2002 2:13 am

With a handful of reviews on motherboards supporting the new Intel 845G chipset, and many others, I hope you enjoy the following news:

- The Tech Report have finally unveiled their review of the new Abit BG7 motherboard, complete with the new Intel 845G chipset. Here's what they had to say:

The BG7 packs the key features of the 845G, including 533MHz bus support, USB 2.0, and downright decent integrated video, plus-thank goodness-an AGP slot. Of course, the BG7 also carries Abit's trademark SoftMenu III suite of overclocking options and a built-in NIC and sound. In fact, you can run the BG7 as a fully functional computer without a single card installed in an expansion slot. Eerie.

- On the topic of the new Intel 845G chipset, there is also a review over at Hardwareluxx of the new Epox 4G4A+, which also sports the new chipset. Unfortunately, the article is in German, so either just look at some pics, or click here for a rough Babelfish translation. You can also find a review of this motherboard over at VR-Zone

- There's another 845G chipset-based motherboard review over at VIA Hardware. This time, it's the DFI NB76-EA motherboard being reviewed. Here's a snippet from that article:

When it came to offering a mainstream chipset that included integrated graphics, Intel was again left behind by VIA and SiS. VIA had the P4M266 chipset, based off of the well performing P4X266, and SiS had its 650 chipset. Today we are going to take a look at Intel's newest chipset, the i845G, and see just what it has to offer. Also I would like to thank DFI for getting us their NB76-EA which is based on the i845G, and we will also be taking a look at this board as well.

- There's yet another 845G chipset review, this time over at Sharkey Extreme, with a write up on the chipset itself, followed by some testing using the Intel D845GBV motherboard.

- X-bit Labs have completed two reviews on the SUMA line of video cards, with the GeForce3 Ti500 SE and the GeForce3 Ti200 SE. Find out why these cards deserve the title of 'SE' (Special Edition).
