Fabs to cost one trillion $ by 2025
It seems Mike can pull at least one interesting story everyday over at The Inquirer, that must be why I find myself linking to at least one story each day. Anyway, Scientists at the University of Buffalo are estimating that Moore's Second Law - the one to do with price - means that a state of the art fab will cost over one trillion dollars by 2025.
But worry not. The same projections claim that by 2010 a top end fab will come in at a pitiful $50 billion.More information at The Inquirer.
The projections, produced by Bruce D. McCombe at the Department of Physics, Centre for Advanced Photonic and Electronic Materials, are part of a presentation on current technology and its limits.
