Apple sells more iOS based devices than Mac's - cannot go back.

By: (more) | Business, Financial & Legal News | Posted: Oct 19, 2010 2:48 am

Apple can't go back to the Mac, yet, as the sales of iOS devices dwarf's their Mac range.

Apple made $20 billion selling iOS based devices, this includes: 4.19 million iPad's in the third quarter alone, rushing past Mac sales of 3.9 million. 14.1 million iPhones were sold - double what they sold in the fourth quarter of 2009. Within that $20 billion revenue was $4.3 billion in profits.

Remember - these are sales and profits before the Christmas season - once Apple get their Christmas on, things might be even better for them.

Keep in mind, with the 14.1 million Apple iPhones - was they couldn't keep up with demand, meaning Apple could not make iPhones as fast as they were selling them, if they were able to make more iPhones, quicker, this would've shown on records as an even bigger sales figure.

Apple's earnings call report states the following facts and figures:

So far, Apple have sold over 125 million iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod touches). Apple have over 350, 000 apps in the App Store for just the iPad!

Comparatively, RIM sold 12.1 million BlackBerrys and Google are activating 200, 000 devices per day.
