HP Slate 500 to be aimed at the business sector

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Oct 22, 2010 8:21 pm

It's seems that HP's long rumored Slate tablet has risen from the ashes of being left for dead and is going to hit the market, but not how everyone originally thought. HP has officially announced the Slate 500 will be squarely pointed away from the consumer market, instead being sold "through HP's small-business, enterprise and government-sales Web storefronts."

Aimed at markets which Tablet PCs have currently been aimed at like hospitals, boardrooms, and restaurants, this Windows 7 based tablet originally saw the light of day at CES, but after the Palm acquisition the Slate seemed to be dead in the water. Specs are suitably high end: an 8.9-inch screen, 1,024-by-768 display powered by a 1.86GHz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of flash storage, Wi-Fi connectivity, an SD card slot, dual cameras (VGA in front, 3 megapixels in back) and a USB port. The price is just as high end, expected to be $799. Check out the promo video after the break.
