The ACCC is doing a fair bit in Australia lately - they have just launched court proceedings against Australia's major tech reseller, MSY Technology - the ACCC are alleging that MSY have engaged in false or misleading warranty representations.

According to a statement made by the ACCC, MSY have made false statements about their warranty in pamphlets, notices, price lists and promotional materials as well as their customers receipts.

The ACCC said, "The ACCC alleges that by making the representations, MSY and each of its related companies breached sections 52 and 53(g) of the Act,"

The body is "throwing the book" at MSY and is seeking court orders, injuctions, civil penalities, corrective notices, costs and a trade practices compliance program throughout the company.

MSY are of course still operating and have opened their latest store in Fyshwick, ACT last week on October 27. The court proceedings are being filed in the Federal Court Fast Track list in Sydney and will go before an interlocutory hearing on November 16 with Justice Perram.
