RumorTT: Microsoft have 'huge' Windows Phone 7 update coming

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Nov 30, 2010 12:20 am

Windows Phone 7 has been relatively successful thus far, to be launched in a world where Android and iOS devices are at the top of the food chain, Microsoft had a large task at hand - this is about to change.

Just like the original iPhone, WP7 is held back by features such as cut/copy/paste and true multitasking. Microsoft is rumored to have a massive update to their mobile OS - the leak comes from a Windows Phone 7 dev who couldn't keep his tongue bitten any longer saying the update will include cut/copy/paste, free voice-buided Bing navigation, custom ringtone support a third party multitasking and more.

The update is supposedly slated for January and would go right up against Google's Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" update and also Apple's release of iOS 4.3 - if the rumors are true, it'll give Microsoft a very polished competitor in the market and to do it so quickly is an achievement in itself, remember this took years for Apple to release where WP7 has been on the market for only 3 months.
