Nook Color to get Froyo complete with Android Market access

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Dec 15, 2010 4:50 am

Consumers may have to start looking to the e-reader market to find an affordable full featured tablet soon. The Nook Color, currently priced at $249, is looking to get an update to Android 2.2 in January.

This update would bring pinch to zoom functionality on webpages, a new home page, and even access to the Android Market for apps. Hackers have already been tinkering with full-on Android on the Nook Color for a while now, but official support would definitely make the e-reader appeal to a wider audience that does not want to shell out the cash for a Galaxy Tab or iPad.
