Crysis 2 is a thinking mans shooter?

By: (more) | Gaming News | Posted: Dec 16, 2010 3:30 am

Crysis 2 is not far away (March 2011) and the closer we get to it's release, the more news, details, pictures and videos we see. It's been a long time since Crytek have pumped out another shooter and I'm beginning to seriously lick my lips at the thought of playing Crysis 2.

Head of Crytek, Cevat Yerli has said in regards to Crysis 2: "We didn't want to be Call of Duty, we didn't want to be Halo. We wanted to stay true to Crysis."

Yerli has explained Crysis 2 as a "choreographed sandbox" and has compared the latest FPS games like Call of Duty by saying "I think in recent years the shooter market has turned into riding rollercoasters." It's true, most people know this - Call of Duty is very linear but most of this is played down to the hardware limitations consoles impose and the 'I want quick, easy action' sales of consoles and their users.

Crysis 2 is hoping to change this. Multiplayer is a big part of the sequel to Crysis also which Crytek have promised it will have around 60 hours of leveling progress to it and is being made by a surprisingly large 70-person development team.

Lots more of a someone at Kotaku actually playing Crysis 2 and gives a bit of a mini personal report on it and it seems to be shaping up quite nicely!

Crysis 2 hits shelves in March 2011 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
