Gigabyte winks at the world with the first glimpse of the G1-Killer

By: (more) | Motherboards News | Posted: Dec 27, 2010 1:00 am

Gigabyte has as of late been sliding it's skirt up it's knee about it's G1-Killer motherboard and now, we're finally getting that sexy shot of something on the motherboard.

Even though it's a discretely covered in black shot, we'll take it anyway. After all, it's Christmas. The shot is from some G1-Killer themed wallpaper. Gigabyte's G1-Killer is set to launch at CES along side various other Sandy Bridge capable motherboards.

The shot is fair sexy with the chipset heatsink shaped in the form of a clip from something like an AK-47 assault rifle (thankyou Call of Duty and Battlefield games for my knowledge in guns!). Unusual design, check. Sexy design? Check. Gigabyte are looking to pull off something different here and personally I think they're aiming down the right scope for this.

The shot shows off some triple-channel action, which leads us to believe it'll be X58-based and not P67 as previously thought. Also visible in the shot are three x16 PCI Express slots along side eight SATA ports.

More details should be available soon, but the slow teases are quite nice from Gigabyte. The only other question I have is... when can I have one?
