Sonic the Hedgehog looks pissed to be on a Wii Remote charger

By: (more) | Gaming News | Posted: Dec 28, 2010 8:04 pm

Mario is celebrating a birthday this year and Sonic the Hedgehog is as well. Sega is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Sonic in its own way, which is not as overt and out there as Nintendo is doing with the party for Mario. Sega is licensing Sonic for some interesting gear though like this new product from Mad Catz.

The product is an inductive charging stand with rechargeable batteries that you only have to sit on the stand to power up. Mad Catz is selling the limited edition Sonic inductive charger for about $50 and that price gets you the rechargeable batteries as well. Sonic appears to be warning you that only two remotes can be put on his little patch of charger.

The device uses magnets to align the controllers for optimum charging and it appears that it can charge the remote through the plastic sleeves that protect your TV from certain death. The design also will work with controllers that have the Motion Plus accessory installed. You should, be able to order one of these chargers right now if you want.
