By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Dec 30, 2010 4:47 am

Remember back when we told you about the iPhone being hacked to be used with a serial port? Apparentlythe idea was more popular than we realized, because now those guys soon be able to put their homemade box away and pick up one of these cables.

Redpark Product Development is in the process of bringing out an iPhone friendly serial cables, complete with a "Made for iPhone" certification. These will be useful for those using iPhones to interface with things like science equipment, point of sale machines, and other networks that use this port that you have probably long since forgotten about. The "Made for iPhone" cert requires a cable have one specific purpose when built, and first off the line will reportedly be the SKyWire whichlets your iPhone interface with telescopes with serial ports. Looks like you may be able to upload and share that neat meteor shower you watched?
