YouTube mobile gets 200 million views per day

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Jan 14, 2011 3:07 am

200 million views per day! Wowsa. YouTube is now exceeding 200 million views per day on mobile, this is triple the traffic for 2010 versus 2009.

Obviously with the bandwidth use, Google's costs are increasing - this is where advertising comes in. Tens of thousands of YouTube partner videos will now have pre-roll ads appear on the YouTube 2.0 app for Android.

Google has been testing ads on mobile for a while now but this is the biggest step for creating moolah from mobile. YouTube is expecting more partners to want to take this step for mobile advertising as the world starts growing toward mobiles.

This was a step Google took in order to add VEVO's massive range of official music videos to the YouTube 2.0 app for Android. In order to watch these videos you'll require Android 2.2 minimum and the latest version of YouTube.

The feature list for the new app:

Music videos are now clearly marked with a "music note" badge

While enjoying the video you can read "artist bio"

It's easy to discover more tracks from the same artist using "artist tracks" tab

You'll find similar cool bands on the "related artists" tab
