Kingston possibly teaming up with JMicron

By: (more) | RAM News | Posted: Jan 26, 2011 7:17 am

Memory specialists Kingston may be moving to purchase a share of SSD controller supplier JMicron in the near future. Kingston, which already uses JMicron controllers in their SSD lineup, was reportedly brought into the deal after an investment partnership with Toshiba went south.

Kingston accounted for 30% of JMicron's controller shipments in 2010, with Kingston expanding its lineup of SSDs between 64 and 512GB. A meeting was scheduled for the 25th according to sources, but nothing further has been officially released at this time.
