Toshiba debuts world's first LIF SATA connector equipped 1.8 inch hard drive

By: (more) | Storage News | Posted: Jan 25, 2011 4:46 am

Storage just keeps getting smaller yet larger as mobile devices get more and more popular. Toshiba's usually one of the big dogs when it comes to OEM storage, and now they have a new line of 1.8 inch drives for PMP devices like tablets and media players.

Available in 160GB, 200GB and 220GB flavors, these are the first drives of their size featuring low-insertion force (LIF) SATA connectors. With a 16MB cache Requiring just 0.35 watts at idle, they should be both snappy and battery-friendly. These drives should find themselves in manufacturer's hands sometime in February.
