One of the things that keeps more people from joining the smartphone revolution is the fairly stout upfront cost. Even with mail in rebates, a lot of people can't fork out 300-400 dollars and wait around for 8-12 weeks for the rebate to come; if it ever does. Verizon apparently feels your pain and is according to AndroidCentral may be considering doing away with mail-in rebates for all phones over the $150 price tag.
Phones at or below the $150 cutoff would have $50 rebates. With the standard new smartphone being around $200 after rebate, this is great news for those who want to score a top of the line phone without having to wait for a rebate. Instant rebates would take the place of mail-in rebates; to the happiness of customers everywhere. That is, as long as the prices stay the same and don't take a serious jump due to the new policy.
