Xoom tablet from Motorola could top $800 at launch

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Feb 8, 2011 4:29 am

Those who have been looking forward to Motorola's new Xoom tablet will do a double take if reported pricing leaks are true. According to a leaked Best Buy ad, Motorola's Honeycomb flavored Android tablet will be coming on February 24th and it can be yours for a hefty $800.

Yes, that's $800. Not only that, but the ad also states that in order to activate the Xoom's WiFI capability, a one month minimum data plan will have to be purchased. Getting a crippled product at such a seriously high price tag is not going to make a lot of people happy; considering what customers will be paying for 4G data as well as other fees this tablet makes the closest iPad competition look cheap by comparison. Are you ready to shell out nearly a thousand bucks up front to get into this tablet?
