OCZ acquires Indilinx for $32 million

By: (more) | Storage News | Posted: Mar 15, 2011 2:02 am

OCZ have just shaken the storage world by acquiring fabless SSD controller provider, Indilinx. The purchase is being financed with $32 million in OCZ common stock. OCZ gains substantial IP from Indilinx, including approximately 20 patents and patent applications related exclusively to the business as part of the transaction.

Ryan Peterson, CEO of OCZ Technology Group has said:

This transaction is an important step in OCZ's strategy and significantly enhances our ability to capitalize on the worldwide demand for Solid State Drives. This combination brings together two organizations that are committed to advancing solid state drive design, and provides a unique opportunity for OCZ to increase both customer and shareholder value as well as expand our reach into embedded markets.

The move by OCZ is not something sudden, it was only just recently OCZ jumped out of the DRAM market to concentrate on their SSD products. This move cements that decision.
