VIA Tech is Slipping

By: (more) | Video Cards News | Posted: Jul 27, 2002 6:35 pm

According to an article on Digitimes in regards to VIA and their currant state in the chipset battle. VIA has been loosing ground lately and quite allot of sales since the introduction of the Intel Pentium 4 processor. Due to the legal issues between VIA and Intel over the P4X chipset line, 1st tier motherboard manufacturers are avoiding the VIA P4X solutions like the plague to avoid any response from Intel.

This has left VIA with only 1 trump card, Their AMD Athlon solutions, and even here VIA is set to loose out. AMD Athlon sales are slowing down, either due to Pentium 4 picking up popularity or AMD fans are waiting for Hammer processors from AMD. Either way this doesn't help sales of KT333 and KT400 chipsets. VIA, once held the title of supplying the only AMD Athlon solution, now that SiS has its 745 chipsets and NVIDIA with nForce 2, VIA is loosing out to their biggest competitors.

Lets hope VIA can pull out of this tail spin.
