Despite a Bloomberg report saying otherwise, gamers should be happy to know that Sony's Next Generation Portable (NGP) starting in late 2011. The report had attributed the delay to the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami tragedy of mid-March, but Sony Computer Entertainment spokesperson Satoshi Fukuoka flat out called the report "wrong".

Well that's a breath of fresh air, Fukuoka. He reportedly explained that the launch plan would not be affected at all, adding that even back in January when Sony first unveiled the NGP, that the plan was never to launch the device simultaneously in the US, Europe, and Asia. The Bloomberg report had attributed the separate regional launch to problems from the quake, but that was apparently erroneous.

My guess is that there's little chance that the disaster didn't in some way affect Sony's production capabilities, but the launch date of the 2011 holidays should give them time to fix everything up.
