By: (more) | Software News | Posted: Apr 18, 2011 3:09 am

So much Windows 8 news is coming through that from today onward any Windows 8 news gets it's own little "Windows 8:" introduction. Windows 8 news is coming in at a steady pace now that the beta versions are jumping quickly and today is no exception, there's a new feature in Windows 8 that is set to replace the OS's default shutdown behaviour so that the boot up process can be sped up.

"Hybrid Boot" uses advanced hibernation functionality when the computer is shut down (instead of actually shutting it down) and allows the machine to start up quicker. The feature can be found by typing "power button" into the start menu and then clicking "Change settings that are currently unavailable".
