Cydia App Keeps Your Jailbroken iPhone From Tracking You- Free At Last!

By: (more) | Mobile Devices News | Posted: Apr 23, 2011 1:03 am

Attention jailbroken iPhone users: want to continue to use that awesome unlimited data plan from Sprint and be off the grid? There's an App for that. Thanks to a new Cydia app called Untrackerd, you can prevent your iPhone from storing all of that pesky locational data.

If you haven't kept up this week, your iPhone is "secretly" tracking your position, downloading your latitude and longitude along with the timestamp. This information gets cached in a secret file, which wouldn't be that big of a deal if it weren't easily and readily accessible because the file i unencrypted. Whoops. Oh yeah, and it downloads onto your computer when you sync your iOS device. This data file can be accessed and deleted through (drum roll) jailbreaking your device! Enter Cydia, the jailbroken app store, and the Untrackerd app, which you can use to continuously clean out those storage protocols.

Not entirely sure if it will fix the whole FaceTime stalking issue, but it's good to feel unwatched, even if it voids the warranty on your post-pc device.

Right?
