Apple has its head in the iCloud

Apple has been at this for a while but things are finally starting to materialize for their cloud-based solutions for iOS and Mac users. Included in these plans are a revamped MobileMe and an iTunes-based "digital locker", sans the naked, old men and filled with more digital-ness. The new rumor is that it will be powered by a huge data center in Maiden, North Carolina and dubbed "iCloud".

According to GigaOm, a Swedish-based company called Xcerion had until just recently been using the domain iCloud.com to run a cloud-based storage service of the same name. Xcerion has just rebranded the service "CloudMe, and a source for GigaOm claimed that the domain name for iCloud.com has been sold to Apple for a tidy sum of $4.5 million
