Graphic market sees Intel, AMD claw GPU share from NVIDIA, NVIDIA are green with envy
Jon Peddie Research has published the graphics market's first quarter results to show us some interesting findings. First off there was a 10.3-percent spike in shipments, which considering things like the economy, console-ported games and the lack of reasoning to upgrade GPUs, is a shock.
Secondly, in the first quarter alone there were 125 million discrete and integrated graphics chips shipped. Looking at the stats we can see NVIDIA faced a large drop in year-on-year growth by a whopping 28.4-percent with AMD and Intel growing by 15.4 and 9.7-percent respectively. Intel dominated though controlling 54.4-percent of the market, AMD placed second with a 28.4-percent piece of the pie with NVIDIA sitting in the corner with their 20-percent cut.
