Nintendo Wii drops to $150, now includes Mario Kart Wii and Wii Wheel

By: (more) | Gaming News | Posted: May 5, 2011 3:03 am

Nintendo has just announced a change in their Wii bundles, a $50 price drop is now included on the package that sits on store shelves and a change is coming for the bundled game. Starting May 15, the new price goes into effect and the package will start to include Mario Kart Wii and the Wii Wheel racing accessory - but that's not all. Nintendo are also throwing in a standard Wii Remote Plus controller and a Nunchuk!

Nintendo is hoping this will reignite the Wii sales which were previously unbeatable quarter after quarter but with Microsoft and Sony having launched their motion-based controller systems in the form of Kinect and Move, Nintendo's Wii is getting a bit stale.

Nintendo is also launching a new "Nintendo Selects" series if budget-priced Wii games starting May 15. Nintendo Selects will offer four hit titles for $20 each including The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess; Mario Super Sluggers; Animal Crossing: City Folk; and Wii Sports which is no longer bundled with the console. Wii Sports Resorts has also been removed from the hardware bundle and is available separately for $39.99.
