Details on Intel's Sandy Bridge Celeron processor

By: (more) | CPU, APU & Chipsets News | Posted: May 12, 2011 2:46 am

The skinny is now available on Intel's upcoming Celeron CPUs which will be Sandy Bridge-powered. The new Celeron's come in multiple flavors, a single-core Celeron G440, a dual-core Celeron G530 and a Celeron G540. The new Celeron's don't feature Intel's HyperThreading or CPU Turbo Boost technologies, they also run at low clock speeds and have just 2MB of L3 cache enabled.

The first Celeron outing, the G440 is a single-core/single-thread chip which is clocked at 1.60 GHz, 650MHz graphics (1.00 GHz Turbo) and has a 35E TDP. The G530 has a second-core enabled, clocked at 2.40 GHz with 850 MHz graphics (1.00 GHz Turbo) and a 65W TDP. The final chip in the new Celeron range is the G540 which is again a dual-core chip, clocked at 2.5GHz. The new Celeron's should hit sub-$100 price points.
